What are contract addresses?

Contract addresses are unique identifiers for smart contracts deployed on blockchain networks like Ethereum.

For tokens built on platforms like Ethereum (e.g., ERC-20 tokens), the contract address identifies which specific token you're transferring. Without the correct address, you might send the wrong type of token while still transacting on the same network.

Why are contract addresses important?

Apart from the recipient wallet address and accompanying network fees, it is important to take note of the contact address where you will be sending your tokens as the contract address tells the blockchain which specific token contract to interact with.

For cases where many tokens can exist on the same blockchain (e.g. ERC-20 tokens on Ethereum), using the wrong contract address could result in failed transactions or sending the wrong type of token.
