What is OAuth (Open Authorization)?
OAuth is a widely used authentication and authorization framework that allows users to log in to applications using an existing account from a trusted provider (such as Google or Apple) without sharing their password with the application itself.
This works by allowing Coins.ph to securely verify your identity through the provider you choose, without sharing your login password with Coins.ph. When you select Google or Apple during login or registration, the authentication process happens directly through that provider, and Coins.ph receives confirmation that your identity has been verified.
This provides a faster and more convenient login experience, while also benefiting from the security systems already built into Google and Apple accounts, such as account protection, device verification, and multi-factor authentication.
Why Google and Apple?
Google and Apple were selected as the first supported OAuth providers because they are among the most widely used and trusted identity providers globally. Many users already have secure accounts with these platforms, which makes signing in easier and more familiar.
In addition, both providers offer strong privacy and security standards, including features such as Apple’s private email relay and Google’s advanced account protection systems.
While other platforms such as Facebook also offer login integrations, Coins.ph currently supports Google and Apple to ensure a secure, reliable, and streamlined authentication experience for users.
